We released a press announcement about our OEM/ISV program (see full text below).
The gist of our value proposition to ISVs is "let us deal with the complex issues of infrastructure software, so that you can focus on your unique business logic and expertise." And we do this without locking you in to our platform. If for whatever reason you decide you don't like GigaSpaces, you can easily port your existing data and business logic objects to other frameworks and middleware products.
Today's environments are complex and application developers need to deal with a whole set of issues:
- Running in heterogeneous environments of hardware, operating systems and programming languages
- Running in distributed environments
- Building applications that are service-oriented and event-driven
- Achieving extreme performance, scalability and reliability
- Easily testing your application for scale and fail-over (See Nati Shalom's blog post )
- Deploying and managing distributed applications
- Taking advantage of hardware technologies such as 64-bit and multi-core
By building your application on top of GigaSpaces you automatically address all of these issues, without having to deal with the underlying complexities related to them. And as already mentioned, GigaSpaces allows you to do this without locking you in: we use a non-intrusive API that allows you to write your app with plain Java (POJO), .Net or C++ objects.
Existing GigaSpaces OEM customers include large companies, such as IBM Tivoli and Nortel, as well as small and medium players, such as Patsystems and TraderTools. We offer special pricing that will fit your own business model and joint marketing activities.
The official press release:
New York, NY, August 1st, 2007
GigaSpaces Launches ISV and OEM Partner Program
Program Provides Licensing and Marketing Assistance Enabling ISVs to Rapidly Build High-Performance, Scalable and Reliable Software Solutions
New York, NY – August 1, 2007 – GigaSpaces Technologies today announced the launch of the GigaSpaces Partner Program for Independent Software Vendors (ISV) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). The ISV/OEM Partner Program enables ISVs to leverage GigaSpaces infrastructure software for building high-performance, scalable and reliable applications. The program includes formalized licensing, support and Go-to-Market activities for companies that embed GigaSpaces' eXtreme Application Platform (XAP) and XAP Enterprise Data Grid in their offerings. Existing GigaSpaces OEM customers include Nortel Networks, Patsystems, TraderTools and others.
Intense competition and customer demands force software vendors to make a difficult choice when it comes to addressing the needs of the evolving infrastructure. They can spend valuable development resources on building infrastructure capabilities on their own instead of focusing on the company's core competence; or they can rely on tier-based architectures such as application servers and databases, which are severely lacking in scalability and performance. GigaSpaces offers a third choice – a complete middleware solution that delivers the best of both worlds.
Unlike typical middleware solutions, such as J2EE application servers, GigaSpaces XAP supports a non-intrusive programming model through the use of Plain Old Java Objects (POJOs), plain .Net and plain C++ objects. This means that ISVs are not locked into the GigaSpaces platform and can easily port the application to other platforms. As an added benefit to its partners, GigaSpaces XAP also supports a variety of standard APIs, such as JDBC, JMS, JavaSpaces and JCache.
By building on top of GigaSpaces XAP, ISVs' applications will be portable to practically all hardware platforms and operating systems – their application can run on anything from mainframes to blade servers, with any common OS, including Windows, Unix, Solaris or Linux. Because of its unique architecture, GigaSpaces XAP also enables the ISV's application to operate on the latest hardware systems, such as multi-core, without requiring developers to acquire any specialized expertise. GigaSpaces XAP was designed with a cutting-edge architecture that helps ISVs to comply with their customers' current requirements, such as service-oriented architecture (SOA) and event-driven architecture (EDA).
Through its direct and OEM customers GigaSpaces XAP has been deployed in hundreds of Global 1000 company sites in diverse industries, including financial services, telecommunications, government, e-commerce, and online gaming.
"GigaSpaces' award-winning solutions are being adopted by enterprise customers, as well as large and small ISVs, where the need for extreme performance, reliability and scalability requires an alternative to traditional tier-based architectures," said Shawn Lorenz, vice president of channels and OEMs at GigaSpaces. "Our new OEM partner program offers ISVs special pricing and joint marketing activities to support their unique needs."
