GigaSpaces Blog – New Version and Location

With the recent move of both gigaspaces.com and openspaces.org to a new server, we've now also moved our team blog (which you are now reading) to the new server, running on the latest version of WordPress (2.5.1). Although the blog is still accessible from www.gigaspacesblog.com, the official url is now blog.gigaspaces.com.

We soon plan to make some visual changes to the blog, but one addition is already implemented, a syndication plugin that syndicates posts from external blogs that are related to GigaSpaces. Currently the blogs that are syndicated into this one are only those of GigaSpaces employees (see the favorite links section on the right side bar), and only posts that are marked with a certain category. The syndicated external posts are transparently copied into the team blog, keeping the link to the original post on the external blog.

By the way, when looking into a solution to achieve this, Yahoo Pipes came to mind, and while being quite a cool tool to manage, it was more complex to use it to integrate those posts into our blog.

What I did find helpful was a plugin called FeedWordPress. It's the only WordPress plugin I could find that offered what I needed, but didn't exactly work out-of-the-box and I had to write another filter. Great plugin, but they should really improve its documentation.

For those of you who registered to this blog, everything is the same, although now you'd also see posts that are coming from other blogs, so don't be surprised, we're just really really sophisticated.
